Care for newborns, children and adolescents
A paediatric consultation includes a review of the child’s symptoms, medical and vaccination history, growth, feeding and development. The doctor may examine the child and discuss treatment, home care and warning signs with parents.
Common reasons for consultation include fever, cough, breathing symptoms, vomiting, diarrhoea, allergies, feeding difficulty, poor weight gain, infections and developmental concerns.
Children with severe breathing difficulty, seizures, unusual drowsiness, dehydration or other emergency warning signs should be taken to an emergency department promptly.
