What a newborn review may include
The paediatrician reviews the pregnancy and birth history, feeding pattern, urine and stool, sleep, activity and any symptoms noticed by parents.
The examination may include weight, hydration, skin colour, breathing, heart sounds, abdomen, hips, reflexes and the umbilical cord as clinically appropriate.
Parents can also discuss breastfeeding, formula feeding, safe sleep, vaccination timing and when to seek urgent medical care.
