When an ECG may be advised
An ECG is a quick, non-invasive test commonly used when a patient has chest discomfort, palpitations, dizziness, fainting, breathlessness or a known heart condition.
The result should be interpreted by a qualified clinician alongside symptoms, examination findings and other tests. A normal ECG does not rule out every heart problem, and an abnormal tracing may require further assessment.
