Why a heart ultrasound may be requested
A cardiologist may advise echocardiography after reviewing symptoms, examination findings, an ECG or a known heart condition.
The test can provide information about heart pumping function, valve movement and the size and structure of the heart. Results should be interpreted in the context of the patient’s overall clinical condition.
